Q.1 Select the option that is related to the third number in the same way as the second number is related to the first number and the sixth number is related to the fifth number.
72 : 108 :: 84 : ? :: 102 : 153
1. 144
2. 126
3. 117
4. 135

Solution

Correct Answer is Option 2. i.e. 126
12 × 6 = 72, 12 × 9 = 108
Similarly,
14 × 6 = 84, 14 × 9 = 126
17 × 6 = 102, 17 × 9 = 153
Hence, ‘126’ is the correct answer.
Q.2 Shaan has a total Rs. 5,500 with him. He buys product ‘z’ at Rs. 5,000 from this sum and then sells it to another person, thus making a profit of 15% on it. With all the money he has now, he buys product ‘X’ and then sells it to another person making a profit of 25% on it. What is the total money Shaan has now?
1. Rs. 7, 812.50
2. Rs. 7, 815.50
3. Rs. 6, 325.00
4. Rs. 7, 187.50

Solution

The correct answer is option 1 i.e. Rs. 7, 812.50
Given:
Total Amount is Rs. 5,500.
Product ‘z’ bought at Rs. 5000.
Therefore, the remaining amount is 500.
Product ‘z’ sell at 15% profit.
SP = 5000quad times quad frac { 115 }{ 100 } =quad 5750quad
Now total amount is = 500 + 5750
= 6250
Now he buys product ‘X’ at Rs. 6250 and then sell it at 25% profit then the total remaining amount
= 6250quad times quad frac { 125 }{ 100 } =quad 7812.50quad
Hence, ’Rs. 7812.50’ is the correct answer.
