The Staff Selection Commission is expected to released the official notification for SSC CGL 2020-21 ,Combined Graduate Level (CGL) on 29 December 2020. This exam is conducted by SSC every year to recruit officials to fulfill vacancies in different ministries/ departments of the Government of India. SSC CGL offers a very lucrative salary with various non-technical posts in Group ‘B’ and Group ‘C’ Non gazetted Posts :

The Online Application Process for SSC CGL 2020-21 will start from 29 Dec 2020 and the last date to complete the application will be 31 Jan 2021. So, Candidates are advised to complete their online application form and payment of fees timely to avoid a last-minute rush.

SSC CGL 2020 : Online Application Process
As the official notification of SSC CGL 2020-21 is expected to be released on 21st December 2020, now interested candidates can apply for the same from the official website of the Staff Selection Commission(SSC). In order to be eligible for the recruitment process of SSC CGL 2020-21 examination candidate must follow these steps:
- Redirect to the Official website of SSC – https://ssc.nic.in/.
- If you are a new user then click on New User and create your account and save your username and password for future references. while the Existing user can log in with their username and password.
- Under the latest Notifications Tab check for Combined Graduate Level Examination(CGLE), 2020, and click on Apply.
- Fill in the necessary details like Personal Information, Educational Qualification, Upload Photo and Signature, fill other details and finally proceed with Fee payment (where applicable).
- then. you can print your online Application Form for SSC CGL 2020-21.
NOTE : In the online Application Form, candidates are required to upload the scanned colour passport size photograph in JPEG format (20 KB to 50 KB). The photograph should not be more than three months old from the date of publication of the Notice of Examination, and, the date on which the photograph has been taken should be clearly printed on the photograph. Applications without such a date printed on the photograph will be rejected. Image dimension of the photograph should be about 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5 cm (height). The photograph should be without a cap, spectacles and both ears should be visible.

SSC CGL 2020 : Eligibility Criteria
In order to be eligible for the complete recruitment process of SSC CGL 2020, candidates must fulfill the given three important eligibility criteria:
- Nationality/ Citizenship:
A candidate must be either:
(a) a citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962, with
the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka,
East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of
Tanzania(Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia
and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

SSC CGL 2020 : Exam Pattern
The Staff Selection Commission conducts recruitment for Combined Graduate Level (CGL ) for various posts in different ministries and department of Govt. of India in Four levels or tiers :

- SSC CGL Tier – I exam is conducted via online computer based which contains four different subject sections(English, Reasoning, Quants, General Awareness) and the time limit is 60 minutes.
- SSC CGL Tier II is also online Computer based exam in which candidate has to answer 100 questions of Quants section and 200 questions of English section, each subject comprises of 200 marks, to be completed in 120 minutes. Additional papers of Statistics and General studies are also conducted for the post for AAO,JSO.
- SSC CGL Tier – III is Descriptive paper in which candidates writing ability and topic understanding is tested. candidate has to write Essay/Letter/Application/Precis writing etc. this paper has a weightage of 100 marks.
- SSC CGL Tier – IV is Computer proficiency/skill test, in which candidates typing skills and computer skills are tested. This is qualifying in nature.
SSC CGL 2020 : Syllabus
SSC CGL exam is conducted in three different levels so there is a different syllabus for all the sections. Candidates must follow the complete syllabus conscientiously in order to score good marks in the exam.

- A total of 100 questions for 200 marks are asked in the SSC CGL examination divided into four sections of 25 questions each, carrying 50 marks each.
- Candidates are given 60 minutes (80 minutes to candidates eligible for scribe) to complete the test.
- There will be a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer. therefore, candidates are advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.
- Marks scored by candidates in tier – I will be normalized and then normalized score will be used to determine final merit and cutoff marks
Indicative Syllabus for the Computer Based Examination (Tier-I):
- English Language: Spot the Error, Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms/Homonyms, Antonyms, Spellings/ Detecting mis-spelt words, Idioms & Phrases, One-word substitution, Improvement of Sentences, Active/ Passive Voice of Verbs, Conversion into Direct/ Indirect narration, Shuffling of Sentence parts, Shuffling of Sentences in a passage, Cloze Passage, Comprehension Passage.
- General Intelligence: It would include questions of both verbal and nonverbal type. The test will include questions on Semantic Analogy, Symbolic operations, Symbolic/ Number Analogy, Trends, Figural Analogy, Space Orientation, Semantic Classification, Venn Diagrams, Symbolic/ Number Classification, Drawing inferences, Figural Classification, Punched hole/ pattern-folding & unfolding, Semantic Series, Figural Pattern-folding and completion, Number Series, Embedded figures, Figural Series, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Emotional Intelligence, Word Building, Social Intelligence, Coding and de-coding, Other sub-topics, if any Numerical operations.
- Quantitative Aptitude:
- Number Systems: Computation of Whole Number, Decimal and Fractions, Relationship between numbers.
- Fundamental arithmetical operations: Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest (Simple and Compound), Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Allegation, Time and distance, Time and work.
- Algebra: Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra and Elementary surds (simple problems) and Graphs of Linear Equations.
- Geometry: Familiarity with elementary geometric figures and facts: Triangle and its various kinds of centres, Congruence and similarity of triangles, Circle and its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles.
- Mensuration: Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square Base.
- Trigonometry: Trigonometry, Trigonometric ratios, Complementary angles, Height and distances (simple problems only) Standard Identities like sin2 𝜃 + Cos2 𝜃=1 etc.,
- Statistical Charts: Use of Tables and Graphs: Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar-diagram, Pie-chart.
4. General Awareness: Questions are designed to test the candidate‟s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions are also designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General policy, and scientific research.
SSC CGL Tier -II Syllabus
The Syllabus for SSC CGL Tier -II is almost the same as for tier -1 but the only difference is of subjects the number of questions is increased to 200 questions for each subject of English and Maths(Quantitative Aptitude).you should prepare your syllabus for tier-1 and tier-II simultaneously, during tier -II exam your preparation must be supplemented with Lots of Mock tests and Previous year papers.
Tier-III (Descriptive Paper)
- SSC CGL Tier-III exam is descriptive in nature, the paper will comprise of an Essay/Letter/Application/precis, etc. The maximum marks in this paper are 100 marks. The minimum qualifying marks in this paper is 33 % as this paper is qualifying in nature.
- The objective of this paper is to test the writing skills of the candidates in the English / Hindi Language .candidates are advised to write the paper either in Hindi or in the English language only.
- Marks scored in this paper will also be added to final merit.
- Time duration of 60 minutes (80 minutes for candidates eligible for scribe) is allocated to complete this paper.

Tier – IV (Skill Test/ Computer Proficiency Test)
Tier – IV skill test is mandatory for all the shortlisted candidates, to be in the recruitment process till last. Skill Test/ Typing Test for the shortlisted candidates will be conducted on the computers provided by the Commission or its authorized agency.
SSC CGL 2020 : Cutoff Trend
Previous year cutoff marks provides a basic insight to the budding aspirants to mark their targets and prepare accordingly keeping the competition and cutoff marks in mind. SSC CGL 2020 : Application fee
- Applicants belonging from General/OBC Category are liable to pay Rs 100/-
- whereas No fee is required to be paid by female, SC, ST, Physically Handicapped, and Ex-Servicemen candidates as they are exempted under reservation from paying the fee.
- Fees can be paid through online mode by UPI, credit or debit card,or through offline mode by generating an SBI challan online.
