Highlights of SBI PO Prelims Exam

The following points are the highlights of the SBI PO Prelims Exam:

  1. There will be three sections.
  2. Category wise merit list will be drawn based on the aggregate marks scored in the Preliminary Exam.
  3. There will be no sectional cut-off. However, there will be an overall cut off.
  4. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.

SBI PO Exam Pattern for Mains

Candidates meeting the required Cut off in SBI Prelims will be eligible to appear for the Mains Exam. The syllabus for SBI PO Mains is quite similar to the IBPS PO Exam. There is only a slight change in the Mains Section with two extra sections being added i.e. General and Banking Awareness and a Descriptive Test and the duration of the test will be 3 hours.

The Descriptive Test has a duration of 30 minutes with a score of 50 marks. This test is conducted to test the writing skills of candidates via Letter Writing & Essay Writing.

Highlights of SBI PO Mains Exam

The following points are the highlights of the SBI PO Exam:

  1. All the questions will be objective in nature.
  2. This Mains paper will have four sections of a total of 200 marks.
  3. The duration of the SBI PO Mains Exam will be 3 hours.
  4. The objective test will have separate timing for every section.
  5. There will be no sectional cut off. There will be only an overall cut off.
  6. There will be a penalty of 0.25 marks for every incorrect Multiple Choice Question.
  7. The Descriptive Paper of 50 marks is compulsory to attempt.

Note: Descriptive paper of a candidate will be checked only if they qualify in the Objective test as per the qualifying marks decided by the Bank.



SBI PO Syllabus 2021 for Mains Exam

The Mains Examination of SBI PO exam comprises 4 sections:

  1. Data Analysis & Interpretation
  2. Reasoning & Computer Aptitude
  3. General/Economy/Banking Awareness
  4. English Language

The SBI PO Mains syllabus comprises a descriptive test as well. The descriptive test consists of two questions, one letter writing and one essay each of 25 marks making a total of 50 marks.

Candidates need to score passing marks in the descriptive test as well to qualify for the SBI PO mains exam.

SBI PO Exam 2021 Group Exercise and Interview

This is the final stage of selection for successful candidates who qualify for the first two phases of the SBI PO 2021 exam. The Group Discussion accounts for 20 marks while the Interview is for 30 marks.

  1. The aggregate marks of all the candidates clearing both the Objective Tests and Descriptive Test will be arranged in descending order in each category.
  2. The decided number of candidates in each category, as governed by the Bank will be called for Group Exercises and Interview.
  3. The qualifying marks in Group Discussion & Interview will be as decided by the Bank.

SBI PO 2021 Final Selection

The final score for the SBI PO Exam is calculated keeping the below points in mind:

  • Marks secured in the Preliminary Exam (Phase-1) will not be considered for selection
  • Candidates must qualify for Phase-2 and Phase-3 separately to be eligible
  • Marks secured by the candidates in the SBI PO Mains Exam (out of 250 marks) are converted to out of 75 and marks secured in Group Exercises & Interview (out of 50 marks) are converted to out of 25. This makes the new total score (Mains + GD/PI) to be 100
  • The aggregate score out of 100 is used for the final merit list for each category. Candidates with top merit rank in each category are finally selected.

    NTSE Exam 2022 Eligibility Criteria

    There are certain conditions laid out by NCERT that one should keep in mind before applying for the exam. NTSE Eligibility Criteria for each stage differ. The detailed criteria are provided below.

    • Candidates must be an Indian national.
    • Candidates must be studying in class 10 in a recognized private or government school in India.
    • Unemployed candidates below the age of 18, studying in class 10 from open or distance learning are also eligible to apply.
    • States or UTs may lay down some more conditions such as minimum qualifying marks in the previous class, age limit, etc.
    • The aspirants will not be qualified for the second stage if they will not meet the sectional cutoff in stage 1 (even after meeting the overall cutoff score).
    • The Indian students (who are studying abroad), should send the attested copy of the class 9 marksheet to the head of the Educational Survey Division, NCERT.

    NTSE 2022 Reservation Criteria

    NTSE 2022 Exam Pattern

    NTSE Exam is conducted in two stages i.e. Stage 1 and Stage 2. Stage 1 is a state-level examination conducted by authorities of various states and union territories. Stage 2 is a national level examination conducted by NCERT for Stage 1 qualifiers and Indian nationals studying abroad as they are exempted from the stage 1 exam. The pattern for both the Stage 1 and Stage 2 exams is the same.

    • NTSE Exam is an offline test. Candidates have to mark their answers in OMR sheets.
    • The exam is divided into two papers. Paper 1 is Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Paper 2 is Scholastic Ability Test (SAT).  
    • The medium of the Stage 1 exam is specified by respective state authorities while Stage 2 exam is offered in Asamiya, Bangla, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu language.
    • There is no negative marking applicable in NTSE 2021.

    Syllabus for NTSE Exam

    • The syllabus of NTSE is based on 10 curricula of NCERT.
    • Students are advised to go through every topic while preparing for the exam.
    • NTSE consists of multiple-choice questions which are asked from the subjects like Mathematics, Science, Social Science, English, General Knowledge, and Mental Ability syllabus.

    This section is divided into 3 sections: 

    • Mathematics: There will be 20 questions from this section in the SAT. 
    • Social Science: There will 40 questions asked from this section. 
    • Science: From this section, candidates will face at least 40 questions. 

    NTSE Exam 2022 Application Process

    Candidates can fill the application form through both the online and offline modes. The application form will be distributed separately by different states. The last date of application submission also varies from state to state.

    • Some general guidelines regarding the form filling process are as discussed below.
    • If downloading, then while taking the printout use legal 8.5” * 14” size paper.
    • Application form available online or with State/ UT liaison officer is only applicable for the Stage 1 exam.
    • Candidates have to pay the application fee as prescribed by their respective State/UT.
    • While filling NTSE 2022 Application Form candidates or the principal have to leave the 4-digit center code blank, this has to be filled by the liaison officer or concerned district officer, or center superintendent. 

    Indian Students

    1. Candidates must download the application form available on the official NCERT website.
    2. After filling in all fields, the applicant must get the form signed by the principal of his school.
    3. Then the application form must be submitted to the State Liaison Officer before the last date of submission.

    Indian Students Studying Abroad

    1. Such candidates can directly apply for Stage 2 of the NTSE exam.
    2. The application form will have to be downloaded from the website.
    3. The duly filled in application must be sent with a photocopy of the mark sheet of the previous exam.

    NTSE 2022 Application Fees

    • Application fees of the aspirants are dependent upon the respective states and Union territories.
    • The candidates will not need to pay the entrance fee for the National Level Examination. 

    NTSE Scholarships

    Around 2000 scholarships are awarded for each stage of education. These stages are:

    1. For Class XI to Class XII, a scholarship of Rs.1250/- per month is provided.
    2. For Undergraduates and Postgraduates, a scholarship of Rs.2000/- per month is provided.
    3. For Ph.D., the scholarship amount is fixed as per the UGC norms.
